Yearbook reminder

Dear Parents and Students,

This is just a reminder that photos and info for the yearbook are due today, so please send them along as soon as possible. We're hoping to create a yearbook for the Grade 6's that will reflect students' time at IRC, so your photos will help personalize the project.

In my earlier post, I requested a baby photo, but we understand that not everyone has baby photos per se, so please consider sending in early childhood photos as an alternative. We're also hoping for pictures students might have taken at Mono Cliffs or on other class trips, or at school sporting events, even in previous years.

The email address to send any photos to is gorcor@rogers.com.

Please let me know if you have questions or concerns about the yearbook process.

Regards,

Lisa

P. S. Most students have filled out the Yearbook profile, but if you haven't, please scroll back and make sure you do send it in as soon as possible.

Social Studies Project

Dear Students,

We're working on a booklet to demonstrate our knowledge of these explorers:
  1. -John Cabot
  2. -Vasco Nunez Balboa
  3. -Juan Ponce de Leon
  4. -Christopher Columbus
  5. -Henry Hudson
  6. -Jacques Cartier
For each explorer, you will create a page and illustration, answering 3 questions:

1. What were their reasons for setting out?
2. What obstacles did they face?
3.What were their accomplishments?

Remember, you don't need to write out the questions, but do answer them in a way that reflects the questions. I.E.: John Cabot's reasons for setting out into the unknown were....
These sites will guide you through the questions you need to answer and help you find information about each explorer:

Yearbook

As the end of the year approaches, we are beginning to put together the Grade 6 Yearbook, which we hope to fill with memories of each student’s time here at IRC. We hope to collect your memories as well.

Please send a baby photo and up to 10 other photos that show memories of student activities along to gorcor@rogers.com or cmporeilly@rogers.com before May 24th. We hope to receive as high quality images as possible, but if you’ve only got physical copies of your photos, please let us know and we’ll do our best to scan them in.

This year students are being asked to pay $10.00 for their copy of the book. You should see a form coming home to ask whether you can afford the $10 fee or if you'd like to sponsor additional student yearbooks for those who might not otherwise be able to afford them.

Regards,

Lisa Goegan
