Dear Parents,
Welcome to a new year in Room 105. I'm looking forward to learning and growing alongside the students this year. Grade one is a huge shift, so right now we're building on basics: playing games to make our thinking more flexible, learning to work cooperatively in groups, working to follow oral directions, and building stamina and focus.
Here are a few photos from the first weeks of school to give you some examples.

Students are practicing a variety of strategies like using counters on ten frames to solve a problem. |

Looking at Boggle letters to see what words can be found |
|
Stamping out our spelling |
|
Using letter tiles to practice building words using rhyming patterns |
|
Putting together a spelling puzzle |

Sorting the letters and numbers |
In past years, I've tried to post on a weekly basis. My goal in posting is always to engage parents in student learning and help you start the conversations at home...so if there's an area of focus you'd like to see me expand on, let me know. I look forward to meeting many of you at our Parent Night this Thursday.
Sincerely,
Ms. Goegan
