Students have been so excited about their projects this past week, and it's contagious. As usual, there's lots of learning happening and lots of pictures to share, but I feel like I need to start by talking a little about the spirit of inquiry. First of all, I love that this student decided to make himself the sun, but I also love how excited he was about it and the ownership he took over the presentation as a result. My goal is always to see their personalities shining out of everything we do together and I just wanted to celebrate that off the top.
This week there was a lot going on with the Me to We bake sale and two assemblies (including a fantastic a capella performance by Cadence) but we managed to present all the animal projects. What I love is how different and amazing all of them were. The dioramas are on display in the hallway outside our classroom and I'd encourage you to look and see for yourself what a wide range of animals and styles of presentation we had.
By and large, students took their presentations very seriously and we did our best to take photos during--although we missed one day's set entirely (oops). I was asking questions and evaluating, so our student teacher Ms. Vijan deserves the photography credit.
As with any project, the experience in doing is key and I'll be evaluating based mostly on students' ability to answer questions about their animal as well as how they did during the presentation. Look to see rubrics being returned early this week.
Sincerely,
Ms. Goegan
P.S. At the end of last week, students had the chance to play with their homemade snakes and ladder games. Here are some pictures of that as well:
